Amanda Seyfried faced uncomfortable situations in pre-MeToo Hollywood

manda Seyfried said she ended up in uncomfortable situations in pre MeToo Hollywood because she “didn’t want to upset anybody”.

Seyfried told Net-A-Porter’s digital title Porter she came out of the early days of her career “pretty unscathed”.

But the actress, who made her screen debut as a teenager, added: “Being 19, walking around without my underwear on – like are you kidding me?

“How did I let that happen? Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to upset anybody and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.”

Seyfried has recently been acclaimed by the critics for her leading role in US drama The Dropout inspired by the life of convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes.

She has been nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Holmes who was hailed as one of the country’s youngest self-made billionaires before it emerged she had lied about technology developed by her healthcare firm Theranos she said could detect disease from just a few drops of blood.

Seyfried said: “It’s kind of surreal that we’re here now, that we got nominated, and I got nominated; I got singled out.

“I didn’t spend any part of my career singled out, and that’s partly my self-deprecating nature.

“Never expecting anything great, preparing for the worst but just continuing to walk on my path.”
