Commonwealth Games medal table: Latest standings and results at Birmingham 2022

The hosts so far have 47 golds to the Aussies’ 50 and counting after another dramatic day across the broad range of sporting disciplines, but only trail by nine now in terms of overall medals.

There were five athletics medals for England on Friday night, with Elizabeth Bird capping off another great evening by clinching silver in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase.

England’s women hockey players also reached the final of their tournament after knocking off reigning champions New Zealand in a shootout thriller. They will play rivals Australia for the gold.
