The January transfer window is edging ever closer as attention turns back to domestic football and what the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham can do when the market reopens just 12 days’ time.
Mykhaylo Mudryk remains Arsenal’s priority target with talks ongoing over the Shakhtar Donetsk winger’s future – and the Gunners have been tipped to agree a fee below his £86million price tag. They have also been linked with Argentina star Enzo Fernandez, though look to have lost out in the race for Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha. Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, is reportedly ready to sign a huge contract with Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea have made a decision on their pursuit of Rafael Leao while Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is being eyed up to replace N’Golo Kante, who wants to join Barcelona on a free transfer. Chelsea rejected after Garnacho approach
Chelsea have enquired over a shock move for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.
The 18-year-old was in flying form for Erik ten Hag’s side before the World Cup break, scoring a late winner against Fulham and providing two assists against Aston Villa.
Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues were interested in a potential transfer and contacted the player’s representatives, but were told he would prefer to sign a new deal at United or a move abroad.
Isco set to become free agent
Isco only joined Sevilla in August, but four months into his deal he looks set to leave the club.
Fabrizio Romano reports that both parties are working to terminate the contract and leave the Spaniard as a free agent, despite his deal running through to 2024.
It remains to be seen what’s next for the 30-year-old, who left Real Madrid in the summer.
Man United told Costa price
Manchester United remain in talks over a new deal for David de Gea, after opting again triggering an extension, and could turn their attention to a replacement.
Porto’s Diogo Costa has been put forward as one potential option, after his involvement at the World Cup with Portugal, but he will not come cheap.
Correio da Manha report that Porto will refuse to sell in January, while any move in the summer would only take place if United paid his £65m release clause.
Arsenal make Fernandez contact
Enzo Fernandez continues to attract interest from across Europe, after picking up the Young Player of the Tournament award at the World Cup.
The Argentina midfielder has since been linked with a move to Liverpool, but O Jogo report that Arsenal have also made contact with the 21-year-old’s agent over a possible move.
Benfica are believed to be reluctant to part ways with Fernandez, and the number of clubs keeping tabs on the situation means that they will be able to demand a huge fee.
Gvardiol could stay at Leipzig
RB Leipzig are increasingly confident of holding onto Josko Gvardiol next summer.
That’s according to Sky Germany, with it claimed that the Bundesliga side have a decent chance of keeping the defender.
It’s reported that Gvardiol, who shone at the World Cup for Croatia, has a release clause of about €110m that becomes active in 2024.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with the centre-back, but it looks like they face a fight to bring him to west London with Leipzig keen to hold out until 2024.
No Mudryk bid yet from Arsenal
Shakhtar Donetsk deputy sporting director Carlo Nicolini has insisted no bids have yet been received for Mykhailo Mudryk.
The 21-year-old continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal, one he is keen on himself, but Shakhtar expect the winger to join up with the squad against after Christmas.
“Mudryk has received the message, like other players, to show up for Antalya training camp on January 9th”, Nicoloni told Calciomercato.
“There is interest from Arsenal for him, but we’ve not received official bids.”
Martinelli closing in on new contract
Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly close to signing a new contract at Arsenal.
Sport report that while Barcelona are keen on the Brazilian and were keeping tabs on the situation, Martinelli is happy at Arsenal and is comfortable with the direction Mikel Arteta is taking the team.
It’s claimed the new deal will tie him down until 2027.
Pardew denied Ferdinand dream move
Anton Ferdinand has claimed Barcelona once made a bid to sign him.
Back in 2006, the defender was playing for West Ham but found manager Alan Pardew between him and a dream move to Spain.
“They – Barcelona – made an inquiry, but the club said no,” Ferdinand told talkSPORT.
“It was on Spanish Football [on Sky Sports], there was a big segment on the show talking about it. Barcelona were interested, they enquired, but it just never materialised.
“[Pardew] wouldn’t allow anything.”
Rashford staying put
Manchester United have triggered one-year options to extend the contracts of Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Fred to the end of the 2023-24 season.
It has also been reported by PA that the same action has not been taken for David De Gea’s contract, with the club still in talks with the Spain goalkeeper about a potential new deal.

But talks have begun on a long-term deal, so say the Telegraph, which includes a £1m boost to his £15m annual wage.
