We are now only days away from the opening of the January transfer window and Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are all expected to be busy. Indeed, Graham Potter is reportedly closing in on his first signing at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues set to put their Endrick disappointment behind them and sign another Brazilian youngster in the form of Andrey Santos.

For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has publicly admitted the club could turn to the market following the injury to Gabriel Jesus and the pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk continues, while Isco and Ferran Torres have also been linked with the Gunners. Tottenham meanwhile reportedly lead the race for Adrien Rabiot, with the Juventus midfielder out of contract in the summer.

Slightly further afield and two of the biggest stories come from World Cup finalists. Gunners linked with Torres

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, as they consider their options with Gabriel Jesus facing a length spell on the sidelines.

El Nacional report that Torres, previously at Manchester City, is now open to leaving Barcelona should the right opportunity come up, believing he needs regular football to keep his place in the Spain side after the change in manager.

It’s suggested that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the 22-year-old and would be keen on bringing him to north London.

Arteta urges Arsenal to use window

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal must strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, as the Gunners bid to stay ahead of Manchester City in the title race, writes Simon Collings.

Arsenal are five points clear at the top of the Premier League, but Arteta has warned of “red lights and alarms” over an “unprecedented” schedule in the second half of the season.

Arteta is prioritising a new winger, and Arsenal are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal for Ukraine international Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners also want to sign a left-sided centre-back and midfielder in the summer, but they could be tempted to accelerate those plans as they target their first title since 2003-04.

Good news for Chelsea!

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has played down talk of the club making a move for Josko Gvardiol.

The RB Leipzig defender is in high demand after a brilliant World Cup for Croatia, with Chelsea seemingly leading the race for the 20-year-old. The Blues will be happy to hear Salihamidzic’s comments.

“No signing of another centre-back is planned.” he told Bild.

“We’re well-equipped at centre-back with Matthijs de Ligt, Lucas Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano, three top players. We also have Josip Stanisic.”

Palace in for Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace are interested in re-signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United, writes Simon Collings.

The Eagles sold Wan-Bissaka to United for £50million in the summer of 2019 but the right-back has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Palace were interested in signing Wan-Bissaka last summer and they retain an interest in him ahead of the January transfer window.

A loan deal until the end of the season is the most likely outcome but United are expected to want guarantees over any move being made permanent in the summer.

Enrique: Liverpool should move for Saka

Luis Enrique has been discussing his former club Liverpool, and what they need to do in the transfer window.

It would be fair to say his plans are somewhat ambitious.

“I love Bukayo Saka, I believe that Liverpool should try to sign him,” Enrique told Lord Ping. “While Salah just signed a new deal, he could do with some competition from Saka.

“Bruno Guimaraes is also a player who could do well at Liverpool. Even though he did not play much at the World Cup, he would be a great signing for them.

“The same for Youri Tielemans, who would be really good for Liverpool. They would both fit the system really well. Cody Gakpo as well would be good.”
